About Grontofs
My vision for this company is to offer a variety of products needed for growing indoor-plants at affordable prices. I use my own experience of collecting and growing plants as well as my contact with the plant-community to find, create and offer products that are not widely available or very expensive. My goal is to offer products for lower prices without skipping on quality.
Grontofs started as an Instagram-blog account to meet fellow plant nerds in 2020. In 2021 I began designing and printing pots and trellises for my personal collection and after a year I decided to make these available for purchase. I did this as a hobby for a few years but at the end of 2023 started a company to be able to expand on the concept. An important aspect for me is to share the plant hobby with others.
Shipping
Shipping now possible within EU!
Plants are packed carefully and sent in cardboard boxes. Plants are usually sent in their pots and substrate to avoid unnecessary stress on the roots. They are dropped off at the post office on Mondays and Tuesdays. I recommend adding a heatpack to your order during the winter and early spring season if temperatures are below 5 Celsius, these can be found here.
Pots and trellises are sent in cardboard boxes or envelopes any day of the week. I aim to print and send pots and trellises asap but it can take up to 2 weeks, you will be informed of any longer delays. If items are on backorder I am awaiting more material or require a change of printer setup which may add some time to production.
Shipping options:
- Traceable shipping from 74kr within Sweden.
- Only Trellises and clips can be sent with stamps for 30kr within Sweden.
- Items can also be picked up in Helsingborg and sometimes I can meet up in Lund (send me a message).
- International shipping with PostNord from 199kr. For international orders shipping at checkout may be incorrect in which case I will email you! Feel free to reach out beforehand to get a more accurate shipping cost.
Although I pack very carefully and isolate from the cold/heat as well as I can there is always a risk in purchasing plants online. If there are any problems with the delivery please contact me as soon as possible and we will try and find a solution together. Concerns with delays must be raised no later than 14 days after your package has been sent.
Prints:
All pots and trellises are printed with PLA.
PLA is one of the more environmentally friendly plastics used in 3D printing. It is mostly composed of organic materials and can be recycled or industrially composted as it is biodegradable.
PLA may become brittle when exposed to high amounts of UV light, water and heat for an extended period of time (usually many years). Although the pots are mostly water tight empty any excess water to avoid leaks. The self-watering pots have an extra seal of cyanoacrylate glue applied at the lowest inner edge and filled with water overnight to make sure they don’t leak. If you do notice a leak after extended usage you can simply apply a drop of super-glue on the inside of the pot where the leak is to seal the plastic. Cyanoacrylate super-glue does not leach any chemicals into the water and is perfectly safe for plants.
I have used the pots for many months in my greenhouse cabinet (at 90+% humidity) and they have not leaked or shown signs of becoming brittle. I cannot guarantee how fertiliser will interact with the plastic.
Upon Arrival:
If the plant is potted leave it in its current substrate to acclimate for a few days to a week. If it’s sent without substrate place the roots in water for a day to help it recover from shipping before rooting in your choice of medium or potting up.
